Frequently Asked Questions

Miss Cire products are trusted by professionals in the waxing industry worldwide. We offer the largest online selection of hair removal wax products for professionals. We have carefully developed our innovative formulas using the highest quality ingredients for optimal performance and results.

For many years, soft wax was traditionally the type of wax used in the beauty industry. It requires a non woven strip or a muslin strip to remove the hair. Is recommend to apply thin layers. A non woven strip is applied on the area covered with wax, the strip is rubbed to make sure that the wax adheres to the strip and then it is carefully but firmly pulled from the skin, taking the wax and the hair with it. One of the main concerns people have when getting waxed with soft wax is the wax’s temperature when applied on the skin. Soft waxes are considered more intense than hard waxes. Hard wax is a little different. It is thicker in consistency and applied warm with a spatula. Once the wax hardens, it is removed without the use of a strip. When waxing the face, hard wax is generally used. Additionally, it is our professional opinion that, when it comes to sensitive skin or sensitive areas such as the bikini area, face or underarms, hard wax is also the best option. It attaches itself only to the hair, not the skin, reducing discomfort and minimizing the possibility of redness or irritation.
Hair needs to be at least ¼” to ½” for effective waxing. For most people this means waiting 2-4 weeks (minimum of 2 weeks) from the last time you shaved. The longer you wait, the better the results.
Prepping the area in the right way will drastically change the way the wax adheres to the hair! It is important to remove all makeup, dirt, sweat, oil or lotion from the skin before applying the wax. We cannot stress how important exfoliating between waxing appointments is. After waxing, the hair gets softer, finer and thinner. This means it is harder for the hair to push through the skin which is why exfoliating is so important. Exfoliating will get rid of the layer of dead skin on the surface so the hair can easily push through the skin. Using enough pressure when applying a wax strip is crucial to make sure the wax is getting as close to the root of the hair as possible. If you don’t use the proper pressure, the wax will cause the hair to snap instead of gripping the hair from the follicle. The first wax strips should be applied in the direction of the hair growth. These strips will get rid of the bulk of the hair -about 90% of the initial amount will be removed. We will then apply “clean up strips” which are applied in the opposite direction of the hair growth. This will get rid of the rest of the hair -you know, those stubborn little guys! The hair needs to be about the size of a grain of rice in order to be waxed. Depending on the customer, this means roughly 3-6 weeks of hair growth. If the hair is too short, the wax cannot suction cup the hair which will result in the hair breaking at the surface.
First, turn on the wax warmer and turn the dial all the way to the highest temperature.  Leave the pot on for about 20 minutes (time might increase depending on how much wax you need to heat up). Next, turn the dial to about the midway point and leave it there. Begin stirring the wax on the outer edge so it starts to warm the wax in the middle of the pot. You can also add more wax beads to the pot to help cool the wax down. Continuously stir every couple of minutes until the center block of wax has completely melted. You might need to adjust the temperature throughout the day depending on how the wax is reacting. The wax should move similar to honey when it’s ready to be used. When you are finished for the day, turn the dial all the way off and turn off the wax pot. Then, place the lid on the wax pot to cover the wax and you are done!.
Mixing the wax is doable but not recommended. We don’t recommend mixing different formulas as each wax performs differently and mixing multiple variations of the wax can lead to the product not performing the same.
Miss Cire offers high quality hard waxes which are safer for your skin and only adheres to the hair. As waxing involves the hair being pulled from the root, it is normal to feel discomfort. We may be more sensitive to pain when run-down or ill, and women often feel it more a couple of days before their period.
-We do not recommend using a microwave to heat up the wax. This can be extremely dangerous since every microwave has different wattage which can cause severe burns to your skin. A stove will cause the wax to burn due to overheating. A wax warmer is the only way to ensure the wax reaches the correct temperature in a controlled and safe way.
During a waxing appointment, each individual hair will be pulled from the root. As a result, a brand new baby hair will grow back in. Since this is a new hair, it will be softer and finer than a hair that has been shaved. Because of this, sometimes it can be harder for that fine hair to push through the skin, causing it to turn back under the skin and result in an ingrown hair. This is where exfoliation comes into play!Exfoliating will get rid of that top layer of dead skin that can block those softer hairs from surfacing. In order to do this, either use some kind of scrub, an exfoliating glove, or even just a small towel to rub against the area.
Hair Growth Cycle Each of the hairs in your body are going through a three-phase growth cycle. The first time you wax about 80% of your hair is in the growth phase, with 3% in transition phase and 15% in a resting phase. With regular waxing the growth cycles of hairs start to synchronize and the times in between waxing will reduce. Type of Hair Different hair types have different growth cycles. For example the hair on our underarms grows in a different cycle to the hair on our arms or legs. If we were to have our underarms and legs waxed on the same day we would see hair grow back at different times on these areas. Personal Characteristics The regrowth of hair can also vary by your own genetic makeup. Differences in hormone levels for example will mean that hair regrowth varies from person to person. Waxing Frequency As I mentioned in the hair growth cycle, increased waxing frequency can help to synchronize hairs in their growth cycles which means you can go longer in between waxing. .
